Class 2A and 1A state Track Championships; Westminster Academy boys are winners; Hallandale girls are second; University of North Florida - Sun Sentinel

JACKSONVILLE — One day into the High School State Track and Field Championships and Broward County has already claimed one team state title and nearly a second.

The Westminster Academy boys led by Andrew James won in 1A at the University of North Florida on Friday, while the Hallandale girls finished second in Class 2A.

For the Westminster boys, who won its first state title since 2008, had 96.5 finishing ahead of First Academy's 90. Booker T. Washington won the boys 2A title. 

Hallandale just missed winning its first state title in school history falling to Jacksonville Bolles 66 to 65 on ther final event of the day. Holy Trinity won the the girls 1A title.
